Today at a mediaconference at Toronto Police headquarters, Acting Superintendent Susan Gomes of Specialized Criminal Investigations, Superintendent Andy Singh of 31 Division, and Inspector Joseph Matys of the Hold Up Squad, announced arrests made ina carjacking investigation.

It is alleged that:
- on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a carjacking in the Ellesmere Road and Kennedy Road area
- the victimwasexiting a blue BMWX5 in a parking lot when a white SUV parked behind them
- three male suspects wearing all black clothing and masksexited the white SUV and approached the BMW X5
- the suspects demanded the car keys and one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim
- the suspects obtained the car keys and both vehicles left the parking lot
- no injuries were sustained by the victims
It is furtheralleged that:
- on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to a carjacking in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenuearea
- four malesuspects exited a gray sedan and approached the owner of a 2021 white Lamborghini Urus at a gas station
- the owner was repeatedly assaultedby the suspectswho eventually took the victim's keysand fled in theLamborghini
- the other males involved fled in the other vehicle
- the victim was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries
On Friday, April 12, 2024, at approximately 10:27 p.m., officers conducted a stolen vehicle investigation in the Islington Avenue and Steeles Avenue West area.
It is alleged that:
- officers on Islington Avenue drove by a white Lamborghini Urus and werealerted bytheirAutomatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) that it was a stolen vehicle
- officers followed the Lamborghini to a parking lot at Barmac Drivewhere the driver of the vehicle exited and entered an establishment
- while conducting surveillance on the Lamborghini, officers then observed aBMW X5 arrive at the same parking lot, the same vehicle involved in thecarjacking on April 6
- when the BMW attempted to leave the area, officers move into effect arrests
- the driver reversed up a hill,smashing intoseveralpolice vehicles while trying to evade arrest, narrowly missing officers (video available upon request)
- even when boxed in by police vehicles, the driver refused to comply with officers’ demands and again attempted to flee
- officers arrested all three occupants in the vehicle
- three firearms were located during the arrestand more than$18,000 inCanadian currency was also seized (see image)
- the 2024 BMW X5, valued at approximately $175,000, was recovered (see image)
- the 2021 Lamborghini Urus, valued at approximately $400,000, was recovered (see image)
Mehkash Sohal, 21, of Mississauga, has been charged with:

- 11 counts of Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
- Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
- Use/Handle/Store Firearm, Carelessly
- Use/Handle/Store Ammunition Carelessly
- Possess Weapon, Dangerous to Public Peace
- Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
- two counts of Unlicenced Person Possess Prohib/Restricted Weapon - Magazine
- two counts of Possess Firearm,While Prohibited
- Obstruct/Resist a Public/Peace Officer
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
Daquon Green, 19, of Oakville, has been charged with:
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
- Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
- Use/Handle/Store Firearm,Carelessly
- Use/Handle/Store Ammunition Carelessly
- Possess Weapon, Etc./Dangerous to Public Peace
- Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
- two counts of Unlicenced Person Possess Prohib/Restricted Weapon
- Possess Proceeds of Property or Thing Obtained by Crime/Not Exceeding $5000
- two counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
- Breach of Probation
Amale youth*, 17, of Oshawa, has been charged with:
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
- Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
- Use/Handle/Store Firearm, Carelessly
- Use/Handle/Store AmmunitionCarelessly
- Possess Weapon, Etc./Dangerous to Public Peace
- Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
- three counts of Unlicenced Person Possess Prohib/Restricted Weapon
- Possess Proceeds of Property or Thing Obtained by Crime/Not Exceeding $5000
- Possession Proceeds of Crime Over
All three accused werescheduled toattend court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 107.
